And let the racing begin!  We opened the season at I-76 Speedway May 6th with fun, sun and lots of laughs.  We had founding members to rookies, seasoned drivers with new rides.  Others didn’t change a thing.

Let me start by welcoming two rookies to the club.  Number 56 Troy Simpson and Number 9 Nick Burton are joining RMMSA this season.  Please make them feel welcome.  They drove well.  You will recognize Troy from Jay’s pit.

Pachello racing and their driver Larry returned.  Dwight and Larry K. must have burned up 5 polishing wheels on their rides.  Paul bought Brent’s championship winning ride.  (We are in trouble.)  Stan didn’t even change the gas in his.

The day started with a furry of tech inspections.  I think we got everyone.  A few teams were still building their cars through the night.  What did you do over the winter anyway? 

With a warm sunny afternoon event the hot laps were, shall we say, dusty.  A pill draw set the line up for two 8 lap heats.  A little water and cars got most of the surface dust removed for the heats.

Paul took the checkered flag in heat one.  He was followed by Dwight and Larry K.  Sammy had the honors for heat two followed by Jay and Larry P.  By the main the track took rubber and provided a decent racing surface with multiple groves.  A few laps after the green Larry P. and Brandon got a little close providing a yellow for a few laps.  I saw several drivers flexing their hands.  It is time to get in shape guys.  A few cars experienced mechanical problems typical wit the first race.  Sammy got the first win of the season and the points lead.  Paul came in second with Larry K. third.  Stan was fourth with Tim closing out the top five.

We are back at I-76 Speedway on Saturday May 3rd.  Come on out and bring your cars.
